We specialize in games you won’t find at big-box stores—think strategy-heavy gems, indie RPGs, and artisan accessories. Our mission? To spark connection, creativity, and good old-fashioned fun through the magic of play.

  • Absolutely! Whether it’s a cozy D&D one-shot or a strategy game throwdown, we’ll be hosting regular events in-store. Keep an eye out for our calendar!

  • Hi! We're Cody and Jess—a game-loving couple from Newton, Iowa. Cody is the heart of the Crate: a gentle giant and lifelong gamer with a talent for building community. Jess is a planner, dreamer, and logistical powerhouse. Together, we’re working to bring The Kraken’s Crate to life—one game, one gathering, one adventure at a time.
